Introduction
Although this project is technically a final for my ENG 581 class, it has become something very meaningful and sentimental to me personally. My class, Literacy Studies, has provided plenty of opportunities for me to think about my own literacy, my beliefs about literacy and make connections to a variety of texts. This project, my final, however, allowed me to do something I would have never done on my free time: interview and interweave my own literacy with the literacies of my mother and grandmother. By doing this, I have been able to create a literacy family tree and trace how my literacy has been influenced by my family. The final product, this blog, is now an heirloom I can continue to look at through the years.
Part of the project, the blog itself, has been an educational experience for me. I have blogged once before, but it was under close supervision and I had someone with me to help me along the way when I was confused and lost. Although I did have a contact to help me refresh my knowledge and whom I could contact through email, I was much more independent as I blogged this project. Now, after having worked ,mostly successfully, through the blogging process, I have much more confidence in my blogging abilities. I think the blogging format worked out well for this project. It was an easy way to organize and chronicle all of the information I collected and all of my thoughts and connections.
